APPA 47 and Data + Privacy Asia Pacific conference
Following on from the success of the 46th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) Forum in Manzanillo, Mexico, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) is pleased to be hosting the 47th APPA Forum (APPA 47) from 10–11 July 2017 in Sydney, Australia.
APPA 47 – built around the agenda theme of ‘interoperability’ – will continue APPA’s legacy of building partnerships, regulatory tools and enforcement arrangements to support privacy regulation in the global data age.
Following APPA 47, the OAIC will also be hosting a side conference, Data + Privacy Asia Pacific on 12 July 2017 in Sydney. This conference will bring together privacy regulators and privacy professionals from the private and public sector, and will focus on the issues and emerging privacy views from across the Asia Pacific region.

Communiqué from the 46th APPA Forum in Mexico
The 46th APPA Forum was hosted by the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (INAI), Mexico, on 30 November - 2 December 2016. During the two day forum, APPA members, invited observers and guests discussed a range of matters including:
- the right to privacy and personal data protection
- international cooperation
- self-regulation schemes
- effective dispute resolution mechanisms
- national security, surveillance and law enforcement.

Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities welcome new member Philippines
Victoria, BC, Canada — The Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) are pleased to welcome the Philippine’s National Privacy Commission (NPC) as a new member.
The National Privacy Commission is the 20th privacy and data protection authority to join APPA. It will participate as a full member for the first time at the 46th APPA Forum in Mexico on November 30th, December 1st and 2nd.
